Application hub
Application packages are stored in a centralized file share for delivery to servers or user devices.
Rapidly provisions applications and updates to XenApp farms without disrupting users or causing
application or system conflicts.
Provisioning services
Ensure 100% server availability
Enable real-time server updates and migrate live server images between physical servers without shutting down or disrupting users. IT can track updates and pinpoint failures to troubleshoot issues with automatic activity logging and auditing.
Profile management
Ensure a seamless and consistent user experience
Consolidate user settings across multiple Microsoft platforms into a single optimized user profile. Policy-based controls allow administrators to select which user settings to keep or discard in order to minimize profile size and maintain fast logon times.
HDX broadcast auto-optimizer engine
Automates WAN optimization and adaptively tunes for optimal performance based on real-time network and traffic conditions.
HDX broadcast adaptive TCP flow control
Mitigates TCP penalties and maximizes bandwidth utilization for all communications across the WAN between branch offices and client devices.
HDX broadcast multi-level compression
Reduces data size for all WAN communications by up to 3500-to-1 by applying the optimal combination of multiple compression techniques.
EasyCall voice services
Improve user productivity
Enable users to initiate and receive office calls from any phone to improve productivity when working off-site. Transform any iPhone into a corporate-connected Voice over IP telephony device.
Application Streaming
Applications can be streamed to hosting servers in the data center and remotely presented to users on any operating system. Applications can be streamed from the datacenter directly to the users Windows PC where they run in an isolated environment and are cached for availability when the user is disconnected.
Offline application availability
Administrators can configure users and groups that can use applications while disconnected from the corporate network. Applications are streamed to the users device and persist in a local cache.
Users then access applications in the same manner as if they were installed, however, administrators retain centralized management.
Application lease period
Administrators can set how long an application is available for offline use. Users must reconnect to the network prior to the end of the lease period or the application cannot be used. In this manner, administrators retain a level of license control within their environment.
Application Isolation
Provides an isolated environment that contains all the files, registry settings, and named objects
for an application, allowing applications that are incompatible with each other to safely run side by
side. Allows applications that are not compatible in a Terminal Services environment to run on
Citrix XenApp. Applications delivered locally to the users device behave as if they were installed
with full peripheral, network and native OS support. Administrators can control the level of
communication allowed between installed and isolated applications using isolation rules.
Hosted application delivery from UNIX server operating systems
UNIX applications can be centrally hosted on UNIX-based XenApp servers and delivered to any client device or operating system.
Activity auditing
Create secure and searchable visual records of user activity for regulatory compliance and litigation support.
SmartAuditor creates secure and searchable visual records of user activity for regulatory compliance and support purposes. Configuration logging tracks administrative changes through text-based reports to ensure IT security. View live user activity through closed circuit TV style shadowing for security and support purposes.
Built-in password management
Single sign-on secures application logons and enhances the security of all password-protected Windows
applications. Administrators can define policies to control application password strength for any application. Password expiration can also be controlled for any application that lacks this capability. When an application asks a user to change their password, XenApp can respond with a new
password created based on rules that IT has configured. Self service password reset allows users to reset their domain password or unlock their Windows account through Web Interface or from the control + alt + delete logon screen.
Multi-factor authentication
Instantly add multi-factor authentication to any Windows or legacy application without any rewrites, including dynamic token, RADIUS, Kerberos, SmartCard and biometrics.
Load testing services
Optimize server capacity with intelligent load testing
Optimize capacity and usage by determining the best ratio of physical and virtual servers needed for any environment. Rule-based test scenarios provide deeper visibility into Xen-Server hosted XenApp workloads to ensure more precise load control.
Application performance monitoring
Enable IT to quickly pinpoint and troubleshoot server, network and application performance issues
that impact the user experience.
System monitoring and reporting
Administrators can efficiently manage and monitor system resources and generate reports on application and server availability, configuration, performance, capacity and maintenance.
Network management and console integration
Supports SNMP monitoring and integration with third-party network management tools, including: Microsoft Operations Manager, IBM Tivoli, HP OpenView©, CA Unicenter©.
Workflow Studio orchestration
Increase efficiency with automated management workflows
Deploy workflows that integrate with Windows components with automated scripts that enable user provisioning, security and power management.
Preferential load balancing
Enables administrators to prioritize a user/group and application based on pre-established requirements. Ensures sessions are appropriately balanced to provide enhanced user experience.
CPU utilization management
Provides CPU distribution such that individual "power" users will not adversely affect other user
son the same server. The technology controls processes from taking too much CPU at any given time, ensuring a consistent performance level for all users on the server.
Virtual memory optimization
Improves overall performance by rebasing DLLs to better optimize the use of virtual memory. The optimizations attempt to eliminate DLL memory mapping conflicts from process to process (app to app or session to session) which reduces the amount of page swapping.
Health assistant
Performs continuous server health checks and automatically initiates recovery procedures, minimizing the need for administrator intervention.
Clean image reboot
Reboot a provisioned server to obtain a clean image in the event of OS corruption or failure.
Zone preference and fail-over
Establishes user sessions based on their proximity to and availability of a particular server or group of servers. This feature enables higher user and farm performance in implementations that span multiple data centers and eases disaster recovery and business continuity.
Dynamic delivery determination
If local application delivery is not possible, XenApp automatically falls back to hosted application
delivery without any user interaction. This ensures that users always get the application they need
with the best performance possible.
XenServer virtualization platform
Bare-metal hypervisor that enables virtualization of all components of Citrix XenApp as well as any
other servers in your data center. Includes functions such as live migration of virtual workloads
from one physical server to another without interrupting user operation.
